It does do well on You Tube videos though, and the upgrade cost was very high for what it does. My upgraded G4 is a very useable machine overall for day to day computing, but will not play HD video without choking. I own a Digital Audio G4 which is a much better machine to upgrade with it's 133Mhz Bus Vs your machines 100Mhz Bus, AGP 4x Vs AGP 2x on the Gigagit and my G4 1.5Ghz Mini keeps up with it and my Intel Mini blows it apart! I did this as a project for fun so did not really care about the $$$ and got a very good deal on all the parts. Now a days it's not worth throwing that much $$$ into such an old Mac. You will pay way too much for the upgrades and then that Gigabit Ethernet G4 will still not even be worth $50 on Ebay. I would sell off that machine and go for a newer one. The upgrades (especially a much faster G4 CPU and good video card like an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro) will cost you so much you could purchase a G4 Mini and it would be a better machine leave alone the low end Intel Mini.
Where did this DVD install disk come from, and why don't you have it now?Īlso in your initial post you mentioned: So then I put an 10.3 Tiger installation disc in and when it is done installing it prepares the disc then it freezes and gives me the "You need to restart your computer" warning.
It would really be best to get a "retail" install CD/DVD (black colored) to install the OS.īTW.in your initial post you said that you: "erased the Hard Drive, tried to format it with 10.5 leopard". It seems like you got lucky (in a way).but because that iBook CD is model specific, it may not be installing the "exact" files that a Powermac G4 needs.which could lead to problems. These grey/silver disks as "dtravis7" mentioned are model specific.and usually do not work very well (if at all) on other Mac models. #White screen, nothing happens, stuck, grey screen, looping, cursor loading, rainbow, beach ball, wait, unfinished.I'm sort of surprised that you were able to use an iBook CD to install the OS on a Powermac G4. I write this for people searching on google. If some people get the same error and can't get past it, ask me below.
But I did update the file, I also changed InjectKext to "Yes" (and not "YES" as the thread tells us, I think I got stuck because of that), and also deleted everything on the kext folder except Others in which I put the FakeSMC.
tells us to that it because of the FakeSMC and now I still had some trouble getting past it. .information, including how to use and interpret panic logs for troubleshooting, can be found in the Kernel Panics chapter of Troubleshooting Mac OS. And when you edit this manually the clover config doesn't read it correctly anymore.Īnd now my problem is grey/white screen (and loading cursor) with loading and the "Service exited with abnormal code: 255" appears. (here is mine, it is in the SMBIOS part, I also took some of the information above and under that you can more easily find where to put it).Ĭlover configuration doesn't work correctly with that, I don't know why.
UPDATE : To configure memory it is better to do it manually.
UPDATE : I actually have to configure my Memory but I don't know how to do that. "panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff88295273a6): "zone init: know_suballoc failed "0/Library/ Cache//Sources/xnu/xnu-3247.1.99/osfnk/kern/zalloc.c:2199."īy the way this is the first and the only thing that shows up when I boot with verbose.Īnd this shows up 60 seconds after I clicked "install el capitan". When installing El Capitan with Clover, I get this error on the first step of the installation, where I boot on my USB and choose install El capitan.
Hi, I have a Z97N WIFI with an i5 4690 and GTX960 as well as 8GB of ram. Building a CustoMac Hackintosh: Buyer's GuideĬlover : El Capitan : kernel panic on installation, memory issue, how to configure memory manually ?
